Adjusting Hardness Level
- PUSH THE NEXT AND UP BUTTON AT THE SAME TIME.
- THE DISPLAY WILL CHANGE AND TELL YOU THE HARDNESS LEVEL.
- USE THE UP AND DOWN ARROWS TO INCREASE OR DECREASE YOUR HARDNESS.
- CONTINUE TO PUSH NEXT UNTIL YOU GET TO TIME. IF IT FLASHES C L STOP AND IT WILL ADJUST.
ALWAYS TURN YOUR SYSTEMS TO BYPASS BEFORE FLUSHING YOUR WELL WITH BLEACH. THAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU TURN THE RED KNOWS TOWARDS EACH OTHER. YOU CAN SHOCK YOUR WELL BY ADDING 1 QUART OF BLEACH TO 4 GALLOONS OF WATER. LEAVE THE MACHINE IN BYPASS MODE FOR 24 HOURS. IT IS SAFE TO TURN YOUR SYSTEM BACK ON. YOU MAY WANT TO DO THIS AS A YEARLY MAINTENANCE.
Can I do the maintenance myself
The maintenance requires special materials and tools. If you want to do the maintenance yourself, you are welcome to do so. To maintain the warranty on your system, we recommend you go through your local dealer to ensure everything is done correctly.
What is the difference between the systems
Puronics® manufactures water softeners, no-salt water filtration systems and problem water treatment systems. The primary difference between the Defender® Hydronex® and Terminator® is the tank construction and material. The Filtermax® is like a Terminator® with an extra layer of filter media. No-salt water filtration system filter the water, but they do not soften it. The Goodsprings™ BWS and Goodsprings™ BPS both include ScaleMax™, which reduces scale build-up. They differ in tank material. The problem water treatment systems are designed to treat specific contaminants, such as hydrogen sulfide and iron.
Lifetime Warranty Exception
THESE UNITS ARE GUARANTEED TO LAST FOR A MILLION GALLONS OF WATER WITHOUT ANY MAINTENANCE. IN ESSESSENCE THEY HAVE A 40 YEAR LIFETIME WARRANTY WITH ONE EXCEPTION. EVERY 15 YEARS THE SPACER STACK AND 2 RUBBER SEALS NEED REPLACING. ALSO, IF YOU RUN IT OVER, FIRE, THEFT ETC THAT IS NOT COVERED. COST FOR PARTS IS MINIMAL AND TAKES 45 MINUTES TO REPLACE.
Cost Of Clean Water
THE CLEANEST AND BEST SALT TO USE IS A SOFT PELLET. YOU CAN USE CRYSTALS BUT IT IS DIRTIER BUT IT WON’T HURT THE UNIT. KEEP YOUR DRY BRINE TANK ABOVE THE HALF WAY MARK. I LIKE TO CHECK MINE THE FIRST OF EVERY MONTH. IF YOU LET THE SALT RUN OUT YOU CAN RESET THE UNIT, SEE BELOW.
Cost To Run The Equipment
IT COSTS .11 A DAY. IF THE POWER GOES OUT THERE IS A BACK UP BATTERY AND WHEN THE POWER COMES BACK ON THERE IS NOTHING FOR YOU TO DO. IT WILL CONTINUE TO COUNT YOUR GALLONS OF WATER CONSUMED.
THERE IS A MANUAL THAT WILL TELL YOU EVERYTHING AND ALSO YOU WILL HAVE YOUR WARRANTY WITHIN THE MANUAL.
THE MACHINE WILL COUNT YOUR WATER USAGE AND THEN REGENERATE AND CLEAN AT THE PROPER INTERVALS. THIS IS PRESET FOR 2 AM. IT WILL CLEAN AUTOMATICALLY OR NO LESS THAN EVERY 20 DAYS. IT WILL AUTOMATICALLY REGENERATE OR BACKWASH AND CLEAN YOUR SYSTEM FROM CONTAMINANTS.
30 Day Clean-out
AFTER INSTALLYING YOUR WATER SYSTEM DON’T FORGET TO FLUSH YOUR WATER TANK 30 DAYS AFTER INSTAL. THE MEDIA NEEDS 30 DAYS TO LOOSEN THE BUILT UP CALCIUM AND MAGNESIUM THEN FLUSH YOUR WATER HEATER.tHIS WILL SAVE YOU MONEY ON YOUR GAS OR ELECTRIC BILL.
Changing the time
Your system has a back up battery. Let’s say that you had multiple power outages, and your lithium battery didn’t get a chance to completely recharge. If this happens or the power is off for 12 hours your cleaning cycle will happen during the day instead of the typical midnight to 2 am. Twice a year you will want to change your clock to the correct time for daylight savings and Fall. Just press NEXT & UP ARROW at the same time
Display says “Call Service”
If you bought a ‘B’ system the display is telling you your Silvershield is ready to be changed or regenerated. This happens every 112,500 gallons usage. You will call me at 208-202-4021 to set up for a service technician.
